Under challenge in this appeal preferred by the appellants, who are respectively the wife and children of the 1st respondent, is the judgment and decree of the Family Court, Kasargod in O.P.No.130/2006. The above Original Petition was filed by the appellants for the following reliefs:
1) The dissolution of marriage between the 1st appellant and the 1st respondent on the ground of cruelty.
2) Return of gold ornaments worth 50 sovereigns given to the
1st respondent at the time of marriage allegedly misappropriated by the respondents or in the alternative the monetary value of the ornaments.
3) Past maintenance at the rate of Rs.2,000/- per mensum for the 1st appellant and Rs.1,500/- per mensum for the appellants 2 and

2. The respondents denied the allegations of the appellants regarding cruelty. They also denied the appellants' case that she had been given 50 sovereigns of gold ornaments and that all those ornaments were misappropriated by them. As regards the maintenance, the contention was that the maintenance case was settled between the parties under Ext.A5 and also that the 1st appellant is capable of maintaining herself and the children.
