JUDGMENT
These connected writ petitions are filed with reference to the findings contained in an Award issued by the Insurance Ombudsman in a complaint filed by the petitioner in W.P.(C) No.22520 of 2017. W.P.(C) No.22520 of 2017 is filed, seeking implementation of the Award issued as above, and W.P.(C)
No.27579 of 2018 is filed, seeking to challenge the afore Award.
2. The petitioner in W.P.(C) No.22520 of 2017 is stated to be a farmer by profession engaged in the cultivation of arecanut, coconut, pepper, etc. He also refers to 158 other cultivators, who have carried out cultivation in Kallar Village, and states that all the 159 persons including the petitioner joined the insurance coverage extended by the Agricultural Insurance Company of India Limited – the 1st respondent therein. The petitioner, with reference to the provisions of the Redressal of Public Grievances Rules, 1998 (for short, ‘the Rules’), states that he filed a complaint before the Insurance Ombudsman, seeking the benefits of insurance with reference to the Weather Based Crop Insurance scheme formulated by the Union of India and implemented through the State Government.
