In CC No. 975 of 1997 the petitioner was convicted of the offences under Sections 323, 324 & 326 of the Indian Penal Code by the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court-II, Cherthala. For the offence under Section 323 IPC he was sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for three months, for the offence under Section 324 IPC to undergo simple imprisonment for six months and for the offence under Section 326 IPC to undergo rigorous imprisonment for two years and to pay a fine of
