JUDGMENT

A mid-day meal worker who worked in a Government School from 1981 onwards on daily wages was terminated with effect from 14.08.2019 (claimed to be a dismissal). She was engaged as a cook in a mid-day meal scheme implemented by the Government. The mid-day meal scheme is managed by the mid-day meal committee of the school. By the time she was dismissed from service, she was 72 years old. No reasons have been assigned for her dismissal. But later, it came out that she was removed from the service due to health issues and severe hearing impairment. She was engaged on daily wages and her last drawn daily wage was Rs.500/- per day.
2. We are not looking at the reasons for her termination or dismissal from the service. We are sure that she could not be engaged at this age. But we are really concerned about the manner in which an employee who had been engaged for more than 37 ye
