The petitioners are the accused 1 to 3 in C.C.No.470/2023 on the file of the Court of the Judicial First-Class Magistrate–I, Kanjirappally, which arises out of Crime No.585/2023 registered by the Kanjirappally Police Station, Kottayam, against the accused persons for allegedly committing the offences punishable under Sections 341 , 506(i), 323, 294(b) and 332 of the Indian Penal Code .

The gist of the prosecution case is that, on 19.04.2023, CW2, a lineman of the Kerala State Electricity Board (‘KSEB’, for short), had gone to the house of the accused 1 to 3 to disconnect the electricity connection due to non-payment of the electricity charges.
