JUDGMENT

The common grievance highlighted in these writ petitions is regarding the expulsion of eligible voters from the voters list prepared in connection with the election to the Idukki District Rifle Association (‘the Association’ for short) .

2. The essential facts are under;

The election to the Association was notified to be conducted on 22.02.2023. In the voters list published along with the election notification, the names of 931 eligible members were included. Later, the District Collector cancelled the election notification and directed to prepare the voters list in terms of the amended provisions of the Kerala Sports Act . In purported compliance of the direction, a fresh voters list was published removing the names of the petitioners and other members residing outside Idukki district. The petitioners therefore seek quashment of the order cancelling the first election notification and conduct of the election based on the original voters list.
