JUDGMENT
The writ petition is filed with the following prayers:
“i) Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction, directing the Respondents to renew the Petitioner’s expired passport bearing No. K.6798359 at the earliest, and to issue a renewed passport in a timely manner.
ii) Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction, directing Respondents to accept the surrender of the old, unused passports bearing No. E.1777378 for cancellation/record purposes and confirm that no offence under the Passport Act , 1967 arises from its inadvertent possession;
iii) Issue a writ of mandamus or any other appropriate writ, order or direction, directing the Respondents to consider and dispose of Exhibit P-3 representation in a timely manner.
iv) Dispense with translation of vernacular documents.
v) Pass such other and further directions in favour of the petitioners as this Hon’ble Court may deem fit and proper.”
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that pending the writ petition, the Regional Passport Officer, Kozhikode, sought certain documents from the petitioner as per a notice dated 14.01.2026, which the petitioner had responded
