Judicial permission granted for advertisement installations at religious events, mandating adherence to prior directives.

K. V. Jayakumar, J.

This Devaswom Board Application is filed by the Cochin Devaswom Board seeking permission of this Court to permit the 2nd respondent/Temple Advisory Committee of Sree Vadakkumnatha Temple (TAC) to put up advertisement boards in the premises of the said temple.

2. Heard the submissions of the learned Standing Counsel for Cochin Devaswom Board and the learned Government Pleader.

3. Sri. K. P. Sudheer, the learned Standing Counsel for the Cochin Devaswom Board, submitted that the 2nd respondent TAC has submitted an application dated 18.11.2025, seeking permission to put up advertisement boards in connection with ‘Athirolsavam’, ‘Shivaratri’, and ‘Anayoottu’ festivals. Annexure-A5 contains the application along with plans indicating the locations where the boards are to be installed and the stage area. The learned Standing Counsel further stated that this Court has previously granted permission to the Board to allow the TAC to put up advertisement boards, as evidenced by the orders in Annexures A1, A3, and A4.

After considering the submissions of the learned Standing Counsel and the learned Government Pleader, we are of the view that permission can be granted to the Cochin Devaswom Board to allow the TAC of Sree Vadakumnatha Temple to install advertisement boards. It is made clear that the directions issued by this Court in Annexures A1, A3, and A4 orders shall be scrupulously followed by the Board. Thus, permission is granted for the festivals referred to in paragraph No.3 of this order to be celebrated during Athirolsavam’, ‘Shivaratri’, and ‘Anayoottu’ to be held in the year 2026.

The Devaswom Board Application is disposed of as above.
