The court emphasized the need for timely resolution of cases and directed the trial court to expedite proceedings in light of substantial backlogs.

JUDGMENT

This original petition has been filed praying for an early disposal of O.S.No.1472 of 2023, which is a suit for declaration. A report was called for from the Judicial Officer. A report has been received wherein it is stated that defendants 1 to 3 have entered appearance and filed their written statement and defendants 4 and 5, who are Officers of the Government are yet to file their written statement. It is submitted that the issues have not been framed since pleadings are not completed. It is further stated that there is a large pendency of 6484 cases in the court, out of which 1403 are more than five years old and earnest efforts are being taken to dispose of old cases at the earliest. The learned Judge has requested a time of one year to dispose of the suit.

In view of the facts mentioned in the letter, this original petition is disposed of, directing the III Additional Munsiff Court, Thrissur, to consider and dispose of O.S.No.1472 of 2023 at the earliest, at any rate, within one year from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.
