The Grama Panchayat is mandated to take action against unauthorized slaughterhouses as per its resolution.

JUDGMENT

The petitioner is stated to have been awarded the right to conduct a meat stall in the Panchayat market attached to the 1^st respondent. It is the case of the petitioner that as per permission granted by the Panchayat, the petitioner is sourcing the meat by getting the meat slaughtered in a far away place. As against the afore, the complaint of the petitioner is that the party respondents are running unauthorized slaughterhouses, without obtaining any permission from the Grama Panchayat.

2. Heard Sri.Manu Ramachandran, the learned counsel for the petitioner, Sri.K.Janardhana Shenoy, the learned Standing Counsel for respondents 1 and 2, as well as Sri.Abraham Samson, the learned counsel for additional respondents 3 to 8.

3. The learned counsel for the Grama Panchayat would contend that the Panchayat Committee has already decided on 22.08.2023, to initiate action against the illegal slaughtering houses being run as complained by the petitioner in this writ petition.

4. The learned counsel for the party respondents, on the other hand, would point out that the party respondents are not conducting any illegal slaughterhouses as alleged in the writ petition, and that they obtain meat slaughtered from the permitted slaughterhouses.

In view of the afore submissions, this writ petition would stand disposed of, directing the respondent Grama Panchayat to take strict action against any illegal slaughtering of meat in the respondent Grama Panchayat, as decided in the resolution dated

22.08.2023.
