Interest claim on delayed security deposit refund to be adjudicated in civil court, not writ jurisdiction.

J U D G M E N T

Dated this the 10^th day of March, 2026 Petitioner has filed this Writ Petition seeking direction to refund the security deposit made by the Petitioner. The learned Standing Counsel for the Respondent No.1 - Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited submitted that the refund of Rs.40,000/- has already been made to the Petitioner. The learned Counsel for the Petitioner submitted that since the Respondent No.1 had been keeping the amount for nearly eight years, the interest is to be given to the Petitioner. This is a matter to be adjudicated in the Civil Court. Accordingly, leaving open the right of the Petitioner to agitate the claim for interest in the Civil Court, the Writ Petition is disposed of.
