ORDER

The petitioners are the accused 1 to 9 in Crime No.271 of 2002 of the Medical College Police Station, Kozhikode. They were charge-sheeted by the police alleging the offences under Sections 143 , 147, 148, 332, 353 and 225B read with Section 149 of IPC and under Section 3(1) of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act (for short, PDPP Act). They were convicted by the trial court for the offences under Sections 143 , 147, 353 and 225B read with Section 149 of IPC and under Section 3(1) of the PDPP Act. They were sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment for three months for the offence under Section 143 , simple imprisonment for three months for the offence under Section 147 , simple imprisonment for three months for the offence under Section 225B , simple imprisonment for six months for the Crl.R.P.No.949 of 2009-2-

offence under Section 353 and simple imprisonment for two years for the offence under Section 3(1) of the PDPP Act. The sentences were directed to run concurrently. The petitioners were found not guilty of the offences under Sections 148 and 332 read with Section 149 of IPC and they were acquitted of those offences. They have preferred appeal challenging the
