Headnote:(A) Administrative Law - Disposal of Applications - Direction for time-bound disposal - When a trademark application is pending before the authority, the Court may issue a direction to dispose of the same expeditiously within a specified outer limit to ensure the timely resolution of the matter. (Para 4)

Issues: Whether the pending trademark application should be disposed of in a time-bound manner.

THIS WRIT PETITION (CIVIL) HAVING COME UP FOR ADMISSION ON 20.08.2026, THE COURT ON THE SAME DAY DELIVERED THE FOLLOWING:

BECHU KURIAN THOMAS, J

--------------------------------------

W.P(C) No.25550 of 2026

------------------------------------

Dated this the 20th day of August, 2026

J U D G M E N T

The limited relief sought for by the petitioner is for a direction to dispose of Ext.P1 application in a time bound manner.

The learned CGC, upon instructions, submitted that the petitioner’s case has been posted for hearing on 21.09.2026 and that thereafter the matter will be disposed of without undue delay.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioner as well as the learned CGC, I am of the view that the writ petition can be disposed of with a direction.

Accordingly, there will be a direction to the first respondent to consider the Ext.P1 application, as expeditiously as possible, at any rate within an outer period of six months from the date of receipt of a copy of this judgment.

Writ petition is disposed of as above.
