The judgment of conviction and sentence passed against the appellant in S.C. No.377 of 2018 vide judgment dated 14.09.2021 by the District & Sessions Judge, Mahila Court, Cuddalore, is put in issue before this Court.
2. The appellant was charged for the offence u/s 294 (b) and 307 IPC on the allegation that at about 7.30 a.m. on 30.04.2018, the appellant had telephoned P.W.8, the friend of P.W.1/the complainant and had asked her to come in front of the post office, which is opposite the hostel, where P.W.1 and during the course of the conversation, the appellant had used obscene and intemperate words against P.W.1 attracting the offence u/s 294 (b) and in the course of the same transaction the appellant is alleged to have caught hold of the hair of the appellant and uttering words to the effect to do away with her, slashed the neck of P.W.1 with a knife and when P.W.1 tried to ward off the attack, the appellant had attacked her right hand, face and had attempted to murder P.W.1 attracting the offence u/s 307 .
3. After trial, the trial court found the appellant guilty of the offences charged and convicted the appellant, sentenced the appellant to undergo rigorous imprisonmen
