JUDGMENT
The conviction and sentence imposed by the learned Sessions Judge, Mahalir Neethimandram (Mahila Court), Salem, in S.C. No.201/2014, vide judgment dated 16.9.2021 is put in issue by the appellant by filing the present appeal.
2. The appellant was charged and tried for the offences u/s 366 and 376 (1) IPC and after trial, the court below found the appellant guilty of the offences u/s 366 and 376 (1) and convicted the appellant and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for a period of seven years together with a fine of Rs.1,000/-, in default to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year for the offence u/s 366 and for the offence u/s 376 (1) , the appellant was convicted and sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for a period of ten years together with a fine of Rs.1,000/-, in default to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of one year. The sentences were ordered to run concurrently and the period of incarceration already suffered by the appellant was directed to be set off u/s 428 Cr.P.C. Aggrieved by the aforesaid conviction and sentence, the present appeal has been preferred by the appellant.
