O R D E R

The prayer sought for herein is for a writ of mandamus directing the respondents to waive the rent for the period of complete lockdown from 01.04.2020 to September 2021, insofar as the members of the petitioner Association listed in the annexure to the typed set.

2. The petitioner is a Society called Virdhachalam Perunthu Nilaya Vadagai Kadai Urimaiyalargal Nala Sangam, which according to the petitioner, is a registered Association. It espouses the cause of members in this writ petition, where, it seeks for a direction by way of mandamus to the respondents, especially the respondent Municipality to consider the representation of the petitioner made in this regard for waiver of rent payable by the members of the petitioner for the period from 01.04.2020 to September 2021 for the reason that, during this period the shops either were closed completely or were partially closed during the Covid first wave lockdown as well as second wave lockdown.

3. Reiterating the aforesaid plea, Mr.S.Senthilnathan, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would contend that, insofar as the waiver of the rent during the Covid-19 first wave lockdown period, the Government had issued an order
