ORDER
The petitioner is a daily coolie worker and she has deposited a sum of Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakhs only) as short term fixed deposit for a period of six months in the respondent’s Society. The fixed deposit has also matured on 28.09.2017. Though the petitioner has repeatedly requested the respondents to return the amount, the same was not returned.
2. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is a coolie worker and believing the words of the respondents' bank, the petitioner has deposited a sum of Rs.2,00,000/- for the purpose of her daughter’s marriage. Since the respondents are not returning the money, the petitioner is facing several difficulties. Therefore she filed this writ petition in the year 2018 seeking a mandamus, directing the respondents to disburse the fixed deposit amount along with interest.
3. The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submits that the interest amount has been credited in the petitioner’s account and the respondents undertakes that they will return the fixed deposit amount to the petitioner on installment basis.
4. In view of the above undertaking given by the respondents, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents to return the fixed deposit amount along with interest to the petitioner within a period of 12 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No Costs.
