The petitioner seeks a direction to the District Collector, Kancheepuram, the 3rd respondent herein, to renew the petitioner's license along with permission to sell outdated Arms and to purchase new fire arms with All India validity and ammunition enhancement.
2.It is the case of the petitioner that he is an aspiring Shooter in Tamil Nadu State and regularly practising in State Level, National Level Shooting competitions and have obtained many certificates. The petitioner, being an aspiring Shooter, is in possession of Arms licence renewable from time to time. The term of licence expired in December, 2023 and therefore, the petitioner has applied for renewal of Arms licence on 21.09.2023. Since there was no response from the respondents, the petitioner has come forward with the present writ petition.
3.Mr.V.Jeevagiritharan, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents 1 to 3, and would submit that the respondents will consider the representation submitted by the petitioner in this regard on
13.08.2025 and pass appropriate orders.
4.Though the writ is for a mandamus for renewal of licence and grant of permission as stated above, since, admittedly, the petitioner has submitted his representation in this regard, let the respondents consider the petitioner's representation dated 13.08.2025 and pass appropriate orders, on its own merits, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5.With this direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
