Respondents PRAYER : Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the 4th respondent to take appropriate steps upon the petitioner’s representation dated 27.12.2023 to remove the encroachment in S.No.358/2A at Krishnapuram Kandigai Village, Uthukottai Taluk, Thiruvallur District within a specific period of time fixed by this Honourable Court.

Heard learned counsel for the parties.
2. The petitioner’s allegation is that patta has been granted to respondent No.5 in respect of the land comprised in Survey No.358/2A at Krishnapuram Kandigai Village, Uthukottai Taluk, Thiruvallur District, which is recorded as grazing land under re-settlement records.
3. Learned State counsel submits that, in the UDR register, the land is recorded as patta land.
4. The matter calls for appropriate enquiry in case the petitioner approaches the District Revenue Officer, Thiruvallur District to challenge the patta granted to respondent No.5.
5. We give liberty to the petitioner to approach the concerned authority, whereafter proper enquiry shall be made with reference to the revenue records and the exact nature of the land in dispute.
6. With the above observation, the writ petition is disposed of.
There shall be no order as to costs.
