PRAYER Petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeking a writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 4 to remove the encroachment made by the respondents 5 to 11 in the name of temple which is built up in the edge of the shoreline of the said lake poramboke land comprised in S.No. 23/1 of Edayalam Village, Maduranthakam Taluk, Chengalpattu District.

Learned State counsel, upon instruction, would submit that after survey, encroachment was found and thereafter, proceedings under Rule 6(1) of the Tamil Nadu Protection of Tanks and Eviction of Encroachment Rules, 2007 have been initiated by issuing notice on 25.11.2025, which shall be brought to its logical conclusion as soon as possible.
2. In view of the submission made by learned counsel for State and also upon perusal of the communication addressed to State Counsel by concerned Tahsildar, as also notice for initiating removal proceedings, we are satisfied that respondent authorities have initiated action towards removal of encroachment. Therefore, we are not inclined to keep this petition pending, but dispose of the same with direction to conclude the eviction proceedings by passing appropriate order one way or the other, within a period of six weeks.
3. Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
