PRAYER: This Contempt Petition is filed to punish the respondents for willfully disobeying the orders of this Hon'ble Court in W.P.No.21586/2007 dated 06-08-2021.

ORDER

The petitioner has filed this Contempt Petition, aggrieved by the non-

compliance of the order dated 06.08.2021 passed by this Court in W.P.No.21586 of 2007.

2. This court, vide order dated 06.08.2021 in W.P.No.21586 of 2007 had directed the respondents to treat the period from 16.07.1998 to 12.03.2004 as a duty period will all monetary benefits (except backwages).

3. Mr.P.Kumaresan, learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents would submit that pursuant to the directions of this Court, the period from 16.07.1998 to12.03.2004 was treated as duty period and the petitioner was granted promotion as Sub-Inspector of Police from Head Constable. It is further submitted that at the time of retirement, the pension, gratuity and the provident fund to which the Sub-Inspector of Police is entitled have been settled to the petitioner.

4. When this Court questioned the learned counsel for petitioner regarding what benefits remain unpaid, the learned counsel could not provide specific details, merely stating that “the benefits have not been given”.

5. Upon examining the order dated 06.08.2021 in W.P.No.21586 of 2007, it is clear that the monetary benefits, except backwages, were to be settled to the petitioner. Since the respondents have stated that all monetary benefits pursuant to the order have been settled, and the petitioner has not provided specific details of any unpaid benefits, this Court finds no further action is required.

6. In view of the above, this Contempt Petition is closed. No costs.
