Respondents Prayer : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to recast all gradation as regards seniority and promotion in the post of direct recruit S.I of Police from the year 1995 based on selection process marks as mandated by the Supreme Court in the case of Ranjith Singh Vs State of Tamilnadu vide SLP(C) 5137-38 of 2021 dated 01.05.2025 by way of including the names of petitioners in the proposed seniority and promotion list on a par with 1994-95 batch direct recruits in the post of S.I of Police without back wages but with the notional seniority and all attendant benefits as directed by the Supreme Court in the said judgement or alternatively to grant seniority to the petitioners by placing them at the bottom of 1994-95 batch direct recruits in the post of S.I. of police without back wages but with all notional promotion and attendant benefits based on selection process marks as directed by the Supreme Court in the said Judgement within time frame.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to recast the gradation list with respect to seniority and promotion to the post of direct recruit Sub-Inspector of Police from the year 1995, based on the Judgment passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the case of Ranjith Singh Vs. State of Tamil Nadu in SLP (C) No.5137-38 of 2021, dated 01.05.2025.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners and the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents 1 and 2. Perused the materials available on record.

3.A perusal of the representation submitted by the petitioners reveals that the petitioners sought implementation of the order passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India. If at all the said order is not complied with, the respondents would be liable to face the contempt proceedings. That apart, the petitioners claim that they would secure a position at the bottom of the 1994-95 Sub-Inspector batch list.

4.In view of the above, the representation submitted by the petitioners seeking implementation of the order of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India cannot be considered. Thus, the writ petition lacks merits and is liable to be dismissed. It is also made clear that if at all the petitioners are not included in the seniority list as directed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, they can very well challenge the seniority list in the manner known to law.

5.In the result, this Writ Petition stands dismissed. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. There shall be no order as to costs.
