Respondents Petition filed under Article 226 of The Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the second respondent to cancel the sale deeds bearing Document Nos.6147/2021, 1428/2022, 3751/2022, 6426/2024 registered before the SRO, Sathiyamangalam, Erode District by considering the representation dated 13.10.2025.

ORDER

The petitioner asserts that he is the owner of the property in Survey No.647/4 to the extent of 2.97 ½ cents. According to the petitioner, respondents 4 and 5 colluded and executed a forged sale deed dated 12.10.2021 bearing Document No.6147 of 2021. On the basis of the said document, further conveyances were executed. After submitting a representation dated 13.10.2025 to the second respondent seeking cancellation of document bearing Nos. 6147/2021, 1428/2022, 3751/2022 and 6426/2024, the present writ petition has been filed.

2. Mr.U.Baranidharan, learned Special Government Pleader, accepts notice for respondents 1 to 3. He submits that the registering officer does not have power to cancel the sale deeds after registration.

3. As submitted by the learned Special Government Pleader, the registering authorities are not empowered to cancel sale deeds after registration under any provision of the Registration Act, 1908. In those circumstances, a mandamus cannot be issued as prayed for by the petitioner. It is, however, open to the petitioner to approach the jurisdictional Civil Court seeking such cancellation. Subject to these observations, this writ petition is disposed of without any order as to costs.
