ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to pay the pension amount with effect from June 2023 to the petitioner on the basis of her representation dated 30.09.2025 to the respondents.

2. Mr.P.Ganesan, learned Special Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the respondents.

3. It is the case of the petitioner that she is the divorced daughter of late E.Ponnusamy who served as a Line man in Kanchipuram Electricity Distribution Circle of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board and died on 02.09.1995. After his demise, the petitioner’s mother namely Muniammal received family pension until her death on 27.01.2014 after which, the petitioner was paid pension till May 2023. Thereafter, the pension was abruptly stopped. Despite the petitioner’s representation dated 30.09.2025 seeking disbursement of pension from June 2023 onwards, no action has been taken on the same so far and therefore, in order to espouse the said cause, the petitioner has come up with the present Writ Petition.

4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that it would suffice if this Court issues a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 30.09.2025 and pass orders on the same on merits within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents submits that, as per the Memorandum No.42342 dated 29.07.2025 issued by the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited, the petitioner being the divorced daughter of the pensioner is not entitled to receive the minimum family pension however, the petitioner’s representation dated 30.09.2025 will be considered and appropriate orders will be passed and the same will be communicated to the petitioner within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

In view of the limited relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the respondents to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 30.09.2025 in terms of the Memorandum No.42342 dated 29.07.2025 issued by the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited and pass appropriate orders on the same on merits and in accordance with law within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order after affording an opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner and to any other interested parties.

7. The Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction. There shall be no order as to costs.
