PRAYER: Writ Petition (Criminal) is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a writ of Mandamus or direction in the nature of writ, to direct the second respondent to grant permission and protection for Kabadi Tournament scheduled to be held from 15.01.2026 to 17.01.2026 at Sivan Temple Thidal, A.Palapatti Village, Senthamangalam Taluk, Namakkal District, by considering the petitioner’s representation dated

O R D E R

The present Writ Petition (Criminal) has been filed seeking a direction to the second respondent to grant permission and protection for conducting a Kabadi Tournament at Sivan Temple Thidal, A.Palapatti Village, Senthamangalam Taluk, Namakkal District, from 15.01.2026 to

17.01.2026, based on the petitioner’s representation dated 06.12.2025.

2. Mr.K.M.D.Muhilan, learned Additional Public Prosecutor, takes notice on behalf of the respondents.

3. In view of the consent expressed by the learned counsel on either side, this Writ Petition (Criminal) is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner and his villagers have been conducting a Kabadi tournament during Pongal festival every year. In order to obtain permission for the same, the petitioner sent a representation dated 06.12.2025 to the second respondent. Since no action has been taken on the said representation, the present petition has been filed.

5. Learned Additional Public Prosecutor submitted that the second respondent police have received several other representations from persons belonging to the same village seeking permission to conduct a Kabadi tournament at the same ground. Therefore, all the representations, including the petitioner’s representation dated 06.12.2025, will be considered and disposed of on or before 08.01.2026.

6. Having heard the learned counsel appearing on either side and upon perusal of the materials available on record and taking note of the submissions made by the learned Additional Public Prosecutor, this Court directs the second respondent to dispose of all the representations received with regard to the conduct of the Kabadi tournament at Sivan Temple Thidal, A.Palapatti Village, Senthamangalam Taluk, Namakkal District, on or before 08.01.2026, after taking into account the law and order situation.

7. With the above directions, this Writ Petition (Criminal)

stands disposed of. No costs.
