Prayer: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 3rd respondent to grant permission and necessary police protection on 16.01.2026 to conduct Kidavettu and Annadhanam festival in Shri Muniyandi Samy Temple. Ponnamangalam by considering the petitioner's representation dated

06.01.2026.

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 3rd respondent to grant permission and necessary police protection on 16.01.2026 to conduct Kidavettu and Annadhanam festival in Shri Muniyandi Samy Temple, Ponnamangalam by considering the petitioner's representation dated 06.01.2026.

2. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents vehemently objected to the grant of permission on the ground that there are two rival groups.

3. Considering the aforesaid submission, this Court is of the considered opinion that the petitioner is permitted to perform 'Kidavettu'

on 16.01.2026 with four goats (Kidas) and to conduct the Annadhanam festival at Shri Muniyandi Samy Temple, Ponnamangalam, for 200 members only. If any rival party seeks permission to perform 'Kidavettu' and conduct Annadhanam, the same may be considered by the respondents and permission may be granted on any other day, with the same four 'Kidas' and for 200 members only.

4. With the above directions, this writ petition is disposed of.
