O R D E R
This writ petition is filed for the following relief:
“To direct the respondent to effect correction in the Death Certificate of late V.I.Chacko by replacing the name “Jeelu Chacko” with “Mary Chacko”.
2. The petitioner is the son of late V.I. Chacko, who passed away on 24.01.2024. The petitioner would submit that in the death certificate issued by the respondent, Greater Chennai Corporation, the name of the petitioner's mother (the spouse of the deceased) has been erroneously recorded as "Jeelu Chacko" instead of her correct and official name, "Mary Chacko." The name "Jeelu Chacko" is merely a nickname used informally and not reflected in any Government records.
3. The petitioner would submit that despite several representations and submission of documentary proof by the petitioner including on behalf of his brother and co-legal heir Abraham Chacko no corrective action has been taken by the respondent.
4. The petitioner would further submit that a written representation dated 30.06.2025 was also submitted to the respondent, enclosing all relevant materials, but it was to no avail. Hence, the petitioner is constrained to approach this Court.
5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and considering the fact that the petitioner’s representation dated 30.06.2025 has not been considered till date, this writ petition is disposed of directing the respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation and dispose of the same within a period of 4 weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. No costs.
