ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking to consider the claim of the petitioner for promotion to the post of Inspector of Police, Taluk, by including his name in the ‘C’ List of Sub Inspector of Police, Taluk fit for the panel year 2024- 2025, published by the 1st respondent in RC.No. NGB. I(1)/E/ 37/ 2024 (2) dated 22.11.2025; NGB Order 26/2025 and promote him as such with all consequential service and monetary benefits at par with his juniors and grant such other further relief.

2. Mr.T.M.Rajangam, learned Government Advocate takes notice on behalf of the respondents. In view of the consent expressed by the learned counsel on either side, the Writ Petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. The case of the petitioner is that the petitioner was appointed as Sub-

Inspector of Police, Category-1/Taluk, vide appointment order dated 01.02.2011. Thereafter, he was inflicted with a punishment of reduction to a lower stage by one stage in the time scale of pay for a period of one year with cumulative effect, by the Deputy Inspector General of Police, vide PR No.81/2020 dated 11.05.2021. Subsequently, the said punishment was set aside vide proceedings of the first respondent dated 14.10.2022. It is the further case of the petitioner that the ‘C’ List of Sub-Inspector of Police for promotion to the post of Inspector of Police for the panel year 2024-2025 was published by the first respondent on 22.11.2025, wherein the petitioner’s name was not included. Aggrieved by the same, he made representations dated 01.09.2025 and 04.12.2025, seeking inclusion of his name in the ‘C’ List. However, the said representations have not been considered till date. Therefore, the petitioner has preferred the present Writ Petition.

4. Learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the first respondent to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 04.12.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.

5. On the above contention, this Court heard the learned counsel appearing for the respondent.

6. In view of the limited relief sought for by the petitioner, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the first respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 04.12.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same in accordance with law within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties.

7. This Writ Petition stands disposed of with the aforesaid direction.

There shall be no order as to costs.
