ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to take action on the petitioner’s complaint dated 11.11.2025, seeking police protection to the petitioner and his tenant for carrying out cultivation in the petitioner’s property situated in Survey Nos. 692/1, 694/4, and 703/3 at Azhagipandipuram Village, Thovalai Taluk, Kanniyakumari District.
2. The present Writ Petition has been filed by the petitioner Mutt seeking police protection to the petitioner as well as to the tenant who is doing the cultivation in the petitioner’s property. According to the petitioner, the abutting landowners and former tenants are threatening the petitioner and the present tenant, thereby preventing them from doing on agricultural activities in the said land.
3. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondent Police submitted that police protection cannot be granted merely on the ground that the tenant is doing cultivation.
However, this Court is of the considered opinion that as and when the petitioner submits a complaint disclosing any threat or law and order issue, the respondent Police is directed to consider the same and provide necessary protection in accordance with law. The petitioner is further directed to approach the competent civil court for an appropriate and permanent solution to the dispute.
4. With the above directions, this Writ Petition is disposed of.
