PRAYER: The Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the 2^nd respondent to implement the order passed by the 1^st respondent in Na.Ka.No. 22153 of 2024 - L5 dated 26.05.2025 based on the representation dated 30.09.2025 by the petitioner within a time that may be fixed by this Court.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been instituted seeking implementation of the order passed by the District Collector, Namakkal, dated 26.05.2025. 2. Originally, free patta in respect of Government land was granted in the name of Tmt.Devikala, wife of the petitioner. Since she had not utilised the land, the patta was subsequently cancelled at her request. Thereafter, the petitioner submitted an application seeking grant of patta in respect of Government land measuring 482 sq.mtrs. The authorities found that such a larger extent of Government land cannot be granted in favour of one person and the same has to be distributed among other eligible landless poor people in terms of the Revenue Standing Orders. Accordingly, the District Collector, Namakkal, passed an order in proceedings dated 26.05.2025 to consider the claim of the petitioner for grant of free patta in accordance with the Revenue Standing Orders.

3. It is needless to state that the said order is to be implemented by considering the applications submitted by eligible landless persons for grant of free patta for construction of houses for dwelling purposes.

4. The said exercise shall be completed as expeditiously as possible, since the District Collector, Namakkal, has already passed the order dated

26.05.2025.

5. Accordingly, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
