ORDER

Seeking direction to the first respondent to transfer the investigation in Cr.No.206 of 2022 from the file of the second respondent police station to some other police station or to CBCID, Thoothukudi or any investigating officer or to some other impartial investigation agency based on the petitioner's representation dated

12.12.2025, this criminal original petition is filed.

2.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner's father went missing, following which, a complaint was given and First Information Report was registered for 'man missing' in Crime No.206 of 2022 on 27.11.2022. Later, it was found that his father, late Ramaiah, was found dead. Without conducting a proper investigation, the second respondent police has filed a final report on 15.03.2024 as 'further action dropped'. Aggrieved by the same, the petitioner has filed a protest petition before the District Munsif-cum-

Judicial Magistrate, Ponnamaravathy and the learned Magistrate had directed to conduct a further investigation under Section 173(8) of Cr.P.C. Since there is no progress in the further investigation, the petitioner has filed the present petition.

3.The learned Government Advocate (crl.side) appearing for the respondent State, on instructions, submitted that pursuant to the order passed by the Magistrate for further investigation, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ponnamaravathy Sub Division, has been entrusted with the investigation and the investigation is pending.

4.Heard the learned counsel on either side and carefully perused the materials available on record.

5.In view of the submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side), the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ponnamaravathy Sub Division, is directed to conclude the investigation in Crime No.206 of 202 as expeditiously as possible preferably within a period of two months from today (i.e., 21.01.2026) and he is also directed to appraise the progress of investigation to the first respondent on every Saturday. The first respondent is directed to monitor the investigation.

6.With the above direction, this Criminal Original Petition is allowed.
