Respondents PRAYER Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking to issue a Writ of Mandamus, forbearing the respondents from in any manner interfering with the affairs of the petitioner’s club, viz., SRG/Thiruppur/33/2025 at 117, Marudurai, Marudurai Post, Kangeyam, Tiruppur-638 108, at its members including the facilities provided for playing various games including the game of playing rummy not involving any element of gambling.

ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed forbearing the respondents from in any manner interfering with the affairs of the petitioner’s club, viz., SRG/Thiruppur/33/2025 at 117, Marudurai, Marudurai Post, Kangeyam, Tiruppur-638 108, and its members, including the facilities provided for playing various games, including the game of playing rummy not involving any element of gambling.
2.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the club of the petitioner is registered under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975 by the Registrar of Societies, Tiruppur Regd.No. SRG/Thiruppur/33/2025 on 25.03.2025. In the interest of the club members, various indoor and outdoor games are being played. In the indoor games, apart from other sports, they are playing rummy games using playing cards without any monetary benefit or profit motive. While being so, the club members apprehend that the third respondent police might get into the club at any time and disturb the peaceful administration.
3.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing on behalf of the respondents submitted that the petitioner's club was registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Rules,1978. They are conducting various programmes to entertain their members. Based on some reliable information, the respondent Police made a search in the respective Club.
4. At this stage, the learned counsel for the petitioner submitted usual order passed in such petitions may be passed in this case also and also he produced the order copy in W.P.(MD).No.27817 of 2024, dated 21.11.2024.
5. In view of the above, the petitioner's club is permitted to allow play of rummy, etc., games without any monitory benefit or any other gambling activities. Further, the petitioner is directed to install CCTV camera in the entrance of the club, so that the activities of the club can be recorded, and also directed to maintain attendance register with particulars of the members. The same shall be produced as and when called for and sought by the third respondent Police. The third respondent police can conduct surprise check without affecting normal functioning of the club activities and also take action if any illegal activities are found to be encouraged in the club.
6. This writ petition (criminal) is disposed of on the above terms. No costs.
