Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent herein to consider and pass orders on the Petitioners representation dated 24/10/2025 to regularize the services of the Petitioner on completion of 3 years of service from date of his Original appointment i.e with effect from 01/12/1989 in the light the orders passed by the first respondent herein in G.O.(D).No. 609,Municipal Administration and Water Supplies(MC 3) Department dated 18/10/2025 and allow the Petitioner to retire from Service with effect from 31/10/2022,with all consequential service and monetary benefits, within at time frame as deem fit and proper by this Honble Court. ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the second respondent herein to consider and pass orders on the petitioner’s representation dated 24.10.2025 to regularize the services of the petitioner on completion of 3 years of service from the date of his Original appointment i.e with effect from 01.12.1989 in the light the orders passed by the first respondent herein in G.O. (D).No. 609, Municipal Administration and Water Supplies (MC 3) Department, dated 18/10/2025 and allow the petitioner to retire from Service with effect from 31.10.2022,with all consequential service and monetary benefits, within at time frame as fixed by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsels on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself. 3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner was appointed in the erstwhile Kottivakkam Panchayat and was absorbed into the Greater Chennai Corporation on merger of the Panchayat with the Corporation. He contended that persons working along with the petitioner has been regularized on completion of 3 years of service vide Government Orders dated 08.08.2019 and 27.08.2019. He further submitted that in this regard, the petitioner made a representation on 24.10.2025 to regularise his service on par with the similarly placed persons, however, there was no response and hence, the present Writ Petition.
4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the second respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner’s representation dated 24.10.2025 in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above direction, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. There shall be no orders as to costs.
