For Petitioner : Mr. K.Dinesh, Advocate.

For Respondents : Mr.A.S. Abul Kalaam Azad Government Advocate (Crl.Side)

ORDER This Writ Petition has been filed to call for the records pertaining to the impugned order in Na.Ka.No.02/Ka.Ni/Kadaladi/2026 dated 03.02.2026, passed by the 3rd respondent, and to quash the same as illegal. The petitioner further seeks a direction to the respondents to grant permission to conduct the Kabaddi Tournament during the Maha Sivarathiri Function, scheduled to be held from 13.02.2026 at 7:00 a.m. to 14.02.2026 at 1:00 a.m., at Devar Tidal, Vellankulam, Sathangudi Village, Ramanathapuram District.

2. Mr.A.S. Abul Kalaam Azad, learned Government Advocate (Crl. side) takes notice for the respondents.

3. The 3rd respondent rejected the permission, citing the filing of a case in the previous year concerning the same Kabaddi tournament. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, however, submitted that the earlier tournament was conducted in a different village, and no such incident has occurred in the present village and therefore, this claim ought to be considered.

.

4. The allegation in the previous year’s FIR pertains only to assault when there was dispute while awarding scores. Differences of opinion are common in any game, and therefore, this cannot be a ground for rejecting the present Kabaddi tournament. Therefore, the rejection order dated 03.02.2026 passed by the 3rd respondent is hereby quashed and this Court directs the respondents to consider the petitioner’s case afresh. The petitioner is directed to submit a fresh representation to the 3rd respondent forthwith, and the same shall be considered at the earliest, but not later than 13/02/2026.

5. This Writ Petition is disposed of accordingly.
