ORDER

This writ petition is filed for Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondent No.3 to grant appropriate permission and adequate police protection to conduct public meeting on 14.02.2026 near the Mimisal Bus Stand, Pudukkottai by considering the petitioner's representation dated

05.02.2026.

2. The learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) submitted that there are already two communal groups in the area and that a similar request made earlier by another group had been declined. In view of the prevailing situation, the authorities are not inclined to grant permission, as the place chosen by the petitioner is highly congested and there is a likelihood of communal unrest. Considering these circumstances, the respondents rejected the request for permission. However, it was submitted that if the petitioner chooses an alternative venue to conduct the meeting, the same may be considered.

3. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court directs the petitioner to submit a fresh representation to the second respondent specifying a different date and venue. Upon receipt of such representation, the Deputy Superintendent of Police shall consider the same and pass appropriate orders, including granting police protection subject to necessary conditions, on or before 18.02.2026.
