ORDER
This petition has been filed seeking issuance of a writ of mandamus directing the 1st respondent to pass orders on the letter of the 2nd respondent dated 08.12.2025 in R.No.12243803/SBHI-I/S1/2025 and to correct the name of the petitioner’s father as “B.Gopalakrishnan Rao” in the place of “B.G.Rao”
in the death certificate, by considering the petitioner’s representation dated
03.11.2025.
2. The petitioner is the daughter of late B. Gopalakrishnan Rao. The petitioner’s father, B. Gopalakrishnan Rao, died on 23.05.2005 at Royapuram. The 1st Respondent had issued the Death Certificate on 30.05.2005. In the said Death Certificate, the name of the petitioner’s father has been wrongly entered as “B.G. Rao” instead of “B. Gopalakrishnan Rao”. In all other official records, including the Legal Heir Certificate, PAN Card, Property Tax Receipt, and Electricity Receipt, the name is correctly mentioned as “B. Gopalakrishnan Rao”. Upon noticing the error in the online Death Certificate, the petitioner had submitted a representation dated 03.11.2025 to the respondents seeking correction of her father’s name. Though the 2nd respondent forwarded the representation to the 1st respondent for necessary action, no action has been taken so far. Hence, the petitioner is before this Court.
3. Heard the learned counsel on both sides and perused the materials available on record.
4. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 03.11.2025 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of three weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
