at Marugoor-Amaravathivilai Road, Marungoor Town Panchayat in

Kanyakumari District, for violating the Tamil nadu Liquor Retail

Vending (in Shops and Bars) Rules 2003, consider and dispose of the

petitioner's representation dated 17.11.2025 within a time frame

stipulated by this Court.

ORDER

(Order of the Court was made by DR.G.JAYACHANDRAN, J.)

This writ petition is filed by way of Public Interest Litigation to

direct the District Collector to consider the petitioner's representation

dated 17.11.2025 to shift the TASMAC shop No.4740 functioning at

Marugoor-Amaravathivilai Road, Marungoor Town Panchayat in

Kanyakumari District, for violating the Tamil nadu Liquor Retail

Vending (in Shops and Bars) Rules 2003.

2.Considering the grievance expressed in the Public Interest

Litigation, this Court directed the authorities to consider the petitioner's

representation, pass appropriate orders and submit a status report.

3.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner,

learned Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 3 and the

learned Additional Advocate General appearing for the respondents 4 and

5.

4.When the matter is taken up for hearing today, the learned

Additional Advocate General appearing for the TASMAC, Kanyakumari

District, submitted that on examination of the representation given by the

writ petitioner and after getting a field report, the District Manager,

TASMAC has been directed to close the shop running in the present

location and shift it to any other suitable place without causing any

difficulty to the public. Based on the proceedings dated 10.01.2026,

issued by the District Collect, the shop has been closed and an alternate

site has been identified.

5.Recording the submission made by the learned Additional

Advocate General, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
