The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the Respondent herein to consider and pass orders on the petitioner’s representation dated 22.08.2025 to regularize his services upon completion of 3 years of service from the date of the original appointment in the light the orders passed by the first respondent herein in G.O (D) No 609, Municipal Administration and Water Supplies (MC-3) Department dated 18.10.2025 with all consequential service and monetary benefits, within a time frame to be fixed by this Court.
2. Mr.C.Selvaraj, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice on behalf of the Respondent No.1. Mr.S.Gopinathan, learned counsel takes notice on behalf of Respondent Nos.2 & 3.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that, he is working as a last grade servant in Greater Chennai City Corporation. Despite having completed 30 years of service, his services were not regularized while, similarly placed persons were granted regularization and consequential service benefits. The petitioner herein being similarly situated, is entitled to regularization of service in terms of G.O. Accordingly, the petitioner submitted a representation dated 22.08.2025 to the 2nd respondent seeking regularization of his services. However, till date, the said representation has not been considered. Hence, the present Writ Petition.
4. Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that, it would suffice, if this Court issues a direction to the respondents to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 22.08.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same within the time that may be stipulated by this Court.
5. On the above contention, this Court heard, the learned Additional Government Pleader for R-1 and Mr.S.Gopinathan, learned counsel for Respondent Nos.2 & 3.
6. In view of the limited relief sought for in this Writ Petition, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the case, directs the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 22.08.2025 and pass appropriate orders on the same in the light of the G.O (D) No 609, Municipal Administration and Water Supplies (MC-3) Department dated 18.10.2025 within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording an opportunity of hearing to the petitioner and any other interested parties.
