ORDER

This petition has been filed challenging the impugned order of the 2nd respondent dated 13.01.2026 and, consequently, seeking a direction to the 1st respondent to reconstitute the Internal Complaints Committee so as to enquire into the false complaint in an unbiased manner.

2.The case of the petitioner is that he is presently serving in the cadre of Superintendent of Police as Commandant at Kovai Pudur, Coimbatore, from 14.02.2022, and has completed 29 years of unblemished service. He was also awarded the prestigious President’s Medal for meritorious service in 2022. Despite having no adverse remarks in his service record, to his shock and surprise, by order dated 24.12.2025, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Chennai–600 010, directed him to report at the DIG, Armed Police Headquarters, Kilpauk, without assigning any reason. Further, the petitioner received a summons from the Head of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC)/DIG, Admin Office of the Director General of Police, Mylapore, Chennai, to attend an enquiry scheduled on 31.01.2026. The enquiry was subsequently postponed to 11.02.2026, but later preponed to 02.02.2026. A false complaint was made against the petitioner, which was forwarded to the Police Internal Complaints Committee. However, the Committee continued the proceedings without affording him an opportunity to defend himself. In fact, even a copy of the complaint was not furnished to him, thereby denying him the chance to submit his explanation. This is contrary to Rule 7 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal)

Act, 2013. Challenging these actions, the present writ petition has been filed.

3.The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that this Court may issue a direction to the 3^rd respondent/ Head of Internal Complaints Committee to furnish all relevant documents, including a copy of the complaint, to the petitioner so as to enable him to effectively participate in the proceedings of the Internal Committee, in compliance with Rule 7 of the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. 4.The learned Additional Public Prosecutor appearing for the respondents submitted that appropriate opportunity will be afforded to the petitioner, including furnishing a copy of the complaint and other documents relied upon, in terms of Rule 7 of the said Act.

5.In view of the above submissions, this Court directs the 3rd respondent/

Head of Internal Complaints Committee to furnish the copy of the complaint and other relevant documents to the petitioner, thereby ensuring compliance with Rule 7 of the Act.

6.With the above direction, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs.

Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed.
