ORDER

The writ petition is filed challenging the refusal check slip dated

04.03.2026. When the petitioner presented the settlement deed for registration, the same was refused on the ground that the parent deed was not produced by the petitioner.

2. The case of the petitioner is that the parent deed is non-traceable, as it was lost during the renovation of his house. Even so, in view of Section 34-C of the Registration Act, if the document is lost, the petitioner has to produce a non-

traceable certificate.

3. Therefore, it is open to the petitioner to approach the jurisdictional Police regarding the missing document. The same shall be dealt with in accordance with the relevant circular and in the manner known to law, and a non- traceable certificate may be issued by the jurisdictional Police as expeditiously as possible.

4. As and when such a certificate is issued, it will be open to the petitioner to re-present the document, upon which it may be registered.

5. The writ petition is disposed of accordingly. No costs.
