Writ Petition

Advocates:
For the Appellants/Petitioners: Mr.S.Sukumar
For the Respondents: Mr.F.Deepak Special Government Pleader

A Will is not a compulsorily registrable document, and registration cannot be withheld on that ground.

Headnote:The petitioner's request under Article 226 of the Constitution of India seeks a writ of mandamus for the registration of a settlement deed. The court found that the delay was due to the unregistered status of the Will, which is not mandatory for registration. Hence, the court directed the respondent to proceed with the registration within a week barring any legal obstacles. The petition was disposed of favorably for the petitioner.
