ORDER
This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to consider and dispose of the petitioner’s representation dated 02.03.2026 seeking correction of the name of the petitioner’s father name from A.Varada Chettiar to A.Varada Reddiar (Reddiyar) mentioned in the death certificate bearing B and D No.28738/94, Registration No.189 dated 31.12.1993, within a time frame as fixed by this Court.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing on either side. With the consent of both sides, the Writ Petition is taken up for hearing at the admission stage itself.
3. It is the case of the petitioner that the petitioner’s father A.Varada Reddiar died on 11.12.1993 due to ill health at his resident at Velachery, Chennai. His death was duly reported to the respondent and death certificate was issued by the competent authority on 31.12.1993, however, inadvertently, the petitioner’s father name was mentioned as A.Varada Chettiar instead of A.Varada Reddiar in the death certificate which was recently noticed by the petitioner. Therefore, the petitioner made a representation to the respondent on 02.03.2026. Since no order was passed by the respondent, the present Writ Petition has been filed.
4. In view of the limited prayer sought for by the petitioner in this Writ Petition, there shall be a direction to the respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 02.03.2026 and to pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
