Writ Petition

Advocates:
For the Petitioner(s): Mr.A.Ilayaperumal
For the Respondent(s): Mr.M.Swamisubramanian

Court directs electricity board to consider representation for reconnection on merits within six weeks under Article 226.

Headnote:Under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, the petitioner sought a writ of mandamus directing electricity connection to her residence based on a representation dated 26.02.2026. The petitioner acquired property by partition confirmed by decree in O.S.No.333 of 2021, constructed a house, but faced disconnection due to siblings' claims while connection stood in father-in-law's name. The court directed consideration of the representation on merits. The sole issue was whether to direct electricity authorities to act on the petitioner's request for reconnection. The court noted the limited prayer, consent for admission-stage hearing, and factual background without delving into merits. The writ petition is disposed of with directions to consider the representation within six weeks; no order as to costs.
