Court directs acceptance of delayed annual reports for society renewal under Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act upon submission.

O R D E R

Heard Ms. K. Priyanka, learned counsel for the petitioner, and Mr. A. Baskaran, learned Additional Government Pleader, who accepts notice on behalf of the respondents.

2.The petitioner has approached this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the second respondent to grant approval to the petitioner Society as required under the provisions of the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act.

3.The application submitted by the petitioner in Form VII, along with relevant documents for renewal of the Society, was closed on the ground that the petitioner had not submitted the annual reports from the year 2014–2015 onwards. The petitioner now submits that the Society is willing to furnish the annual reports/audit reports for the period from

2014–2015 to 2019–2020 and seeks a direction to the second respondent to receive and consider the same.

4.Mr. A. Baskaran, learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents, on instructions, submitted that if the petitioner submits the annual reports/audit reports for the period from 2014–2015 to 2019– 2020, the application in Form VII for renewal of the Society will be considered by the second respondent within a time frame to be fixed by this Court. The said submission is taken on record.

5.In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of, permitting the petitioner to submit the annual reports/audit reports for the period from 2014–2015 to 2019–2020, along with all other requisite documents, before the second respondent within a period of two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. Upon receipt of the said documents, the second respondent shall consider the application in Form VII on merits and pass appropriate orders in accordance with law within a further period of two (2) weeks thereafter.

6.There shall be no order as to costs.
