ORDER
This writ petition is filed for a mandamus directing the respondents to issue legal heirship certificate in respect of the deceased Manickam, who died on 06.06.2025, by considering the petitioner's representation dated
20.01.2026.
2.When the matter came up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents would submit that it is not enough if the petitioner makes a representation for issuance of legal heirship certificate, the issue of legal heirship certificate has been maintained and operated by an online portal. The petitioner has to make an online application by uploading the necessary documents, upon which, the application will be considered.
3.In view thereof, this writ petition is disposed on the following terms:
(i)the petitioner shall make an application online through the appropriate portal within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the web copy of the order, without waiting for the certified copy of the order.
(ii)Upon such application being filed, due enquiry shall be conducted and orders be passed with reference to the grant of legal heirship certificate in respect of the said Manickam, in accordance with law, as expeditiously as possible, in any event, not later than three months from the date of making the application.
(iii)No costs.
