ORDER
This review application has been filed seeking to revisit an order dated 09.04.2025 passed by this Court in W.P.No. 6855 of 2025.
2. The petitioner therein is review applicant. The Writ Petition had been filed seeking a Mandamus directing the respondents therein to select and appoint the petitioner to any one of the posts advertised vide notification No.7 of 2015 dated 30.04.2015, specifically by taking into consideration the fact that the petitioner was qualified with B.A, in Academics and B.L Integrated Course Degree conferred by the Bharathidasan University.

In effect, the petitioner claimed that she had completed her five year law course and has been awarded a certificate which indicated conferment of a degree in B.A. B.L., by the Bharathidasan University. It was an integrated course for five years. On completion of three years, the degree of Bachelor of Arts is conferred by the University and on completion of five years, the degree of Bachelor of Laws is also conferred.
4. On the basis of such qualification, the petitioner had applied for the post of Revenue Assistant consequent to an advertisement. There were 618 posts. It was contended that 245 posts had been filled up and that there were vacancies. The application of the petitioner had been rejected only on the ground that she had not been completed her undergraduate degree. But however, the learned Senior Counsel for the writ petition insisted that the Court should consider the fact that the petitioner had completed her integrated Five Year B.L Course and was therefore eligible to be considered for the post of Revenue Inspector.

This Court however pointed out the order dated 09.04.2025 had dismissed the Writ Petition holding that a Mandamus cannot be issued on the ground that though the petitioner has been awarded the degree, B.A B.L. Degree, the degree could not be spilt into one of B.A and the other of B.L. Holding that though the degree could be termed as B.A B.L., the petitioner can never claim a right for employment on the basis of her statement that she had completed the degree Bachelor of Arts, the Writ Petition had been dismissed.

In this Review Application, the learned Senior Counsel drew notice of this Court to G.O.Ms.No. 184 issued by the Law Department, dated 30.07.2009, much earlier to the institution of the writ petition or even to the advertisement issued by the respondents. 7. A rough translation would indicate that the B.A., degree awarded after completion of three years of the five year Integrated law course, would be equivalent to any other undergraduate degree like B.A., B.Sc or B.Com.
8. Placing strong reliance on this Government Order which had not been earlier brought to the notice of this Court, the learned Senior Counsel argued that by this Government Order, the Decree of B.A Law had been categorised as equivalent to a normal undergraduate degree course and the degree granted thereafter like B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com.
9. Notice had been directed in the Review Application and the respondents have entered appearance.
