Headnote:The petitioner filed this criminal original petition under Section 482 of Cr.P.C. to quash the proceedings in CC.No.1688 of 2016 pending before the XVI Metropolitan Magistrate Court, George Town, Chennai. The respondent's counsel submitted that trial has already commenced and the case is posted for arguments. The Court held that after commencement of trial, a quash petition is not maintainable. The Court dismissed the criminal original petition.

ORDER

This criminal original petition has been filed to quash the proceedings in CC.No.1688 of 2016 on the file of the learned XVI Metropolitan Magistrate Court, George Town, Chennai.

2. The learned counsel appearing for respondents 1 & 3 submitted that already trial has been commenced and now the case has been posted for arguments.

3. Therefore, after commencement of trial, this quash petition cannot be maintainable. As such, this criminal original petition is liable to be dismissed.

4. Accordingly, this criminal original petition is dismissed.
