Court directs authorities to consider representations for shop allotments and pass orders within stipulated time.

COMMON ORDER

These writ petitions have been filed to direct the 3^rd respondent to issue application form to the petitioners for allotment of 72 vacant shops on rental basis in Vegetable, Fruit, Flower and Food Grain Market on monthly rent basis at Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex, Koyambedu, Chennai-600107 based on the petitioners’ representation dated 25.04.2026 by receiving the demand drafts dated 22.04.2026 for sum of Rs.1000/- drawn in favour of the

1^st respondent.

2.The petitioners state that they are doing vegetable business. Recently, the respondents/CMDA have issued a public notice intimating the tender-cum- auction for allotment of 72 vacant shops on rental basis in Vegetable, Fruit, Flower and Food Grain Market on monthly rent basis at Koyambedu Wholesale Market Complex, Koyambedu, Chennai-600107. It is the case of the petitioners that they have made payment and drawn demand draft for a sum of Rs.1,000/- on 22.04.2026 in favour of the 1^st respondent. When the petitioners approached the 3^rd respondent on 22.04.2026 along with the demand draft for issuance of application form for the tender-cum-auction, the 3^rd respondent refused to issue the same for the reasons best known to him. Therefore, the petitioners submitted a representation, dated 25.04.2026, to the respondents to issue application form to the petitioners. Since the same did not evoke any response, the petitioners have come forward with this writ petition.

3.Learned counsel for the petitioners would submit that it would suffice if this Court directs the respondents to consider the petitioners’ representation dated 25.04.2026 and pass appropriate orders within a specific time frame. 4.Mr.B.Sanjay Balachandar, learned Standing Counsel, who takes notice for the respondents, would submit that the 3^rd respondent will consider the petitioners’ representation and pass orders on merits within a period of six weeks.

5.In view of the limited nature of relief now sought for by the learned counsel for the petitioner, this Court directs the 3^rd respondent to consider the petitioners’ representation, dated 25.04.2026, and pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, after affording an opportunity to the petitioners, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.With the above direction, these writ petitions are disposed of. No costs.
