ORDER
The Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus
directing the respondents to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 21.02.2026 seeking appointment to the post of Health Inspector Grade -II
Multipurpose Heath Worker on par with similarly placed candidates.
2. The case of the petitioner is that he has completed a one-year Diploma
in Sanitation from Pondicherry University Community College, which is a qualification relevant to the post of Health Inspector Grade-II / Multipurpose Health Worker under the Health Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. During the COVID-19 pandemic period, the petitioner was engaged by the Government as a Multipurpose Health Worker on a temporary basis and discharged duties relating to public health under the supervision of competent
health authorities.

3. It is the further case of the petitioner that the Government of Tamil
Nadu, through G.O.Ms.No.243, Higher Education (K1) Department, dated 12.09.2023, recognised the one-year Diploma in Sanitation awarded by Pondicherry University Community College as an equivalent qualification for the purpose of public employment. Thereafter, several similarly placed candidates from the very same batch possessing identical qualification, have been appointed to the permanent post of Health Inspector Grade-II / Multipurpose Health Worker by virtue of allotment / posting orders issued on 31.12.2025 by the respondents. Despite the recognition of the qualification by the Government and despite several similarly placed candidates having already been appointed, the petitioner’s candidature has not been considered by the respondent. Hence, the petitioner submitted a detailed representation dated 21.02.2026 to the 1st respondent and the same is still pending without any
progress. Challenging the same, the present Writ Petition has been filed.
4. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional
Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

5. Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and the submission
made by the learned counsel appearing for both parties, this Court, without going into the merits of the case, directs the 2nd respondent to consider the petitioner’s representation dated 21.02.2026 seeking appointment to the post of Health Inspector Grade -II / Multipurpose Health Worker on par with similarly placed candidates and to pass appropriate orders, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six (6) weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of
this order.
6. With the above direction, this Writ Petition stands disposed of. There
shall be no order as to costs.
