The petitioner’s son is the convict in Central Prison – I, Puzhal and has been lodged in prison since 05.03.1996. The petitioner’s husband, convict’s father, passed away on 22.05.2026 and the petitioner has made a request of leave for the convict to attend the 13th and 14th day ceremonies which fall on
06.06.2026 and 07.06.2026 respectively.
2. The Writ Petition has come up for admission and the ceremonies are slated to tomorrow and day after. In light of the fact that Mr.C.R.Malarvannan, learned counsel for the Government of Tamil Nadu (Criminal Side) does not dispute the factum of demise of the convict’s father, it would be only fair to permit the convict to attend the ceremonies as prayed for.
3. Hence, there is a direction to the authorities to permit the convict to go on leave with escort for two days, i.e, on 06.06.2026 and 07.06.2026, though on the following conditions:
(i) Respondents are directed to release the Convict Prisoner viz., Sasikumar, S/o.Raja
